Frequently asked questions

Your cleaning questions, answered

Everything people usually ask before booking a cleaner in Hull — how pricing works, who comes to your home, what happens with keys, and how far we travel across East Yorkshire.

Booking & getting started

How do I get a quote from TrueNest Cleaning?

Fill in the quote form on our website, call 07881 170006 or email info@truenestyh.com. Tell us the property size, the type of clean you need and roughly when you would like it. We usually come back the same working day with a clear price and the next available slots.

Do you charge for a quote or a home visit?

No. Quotes are free and there is no obligation. For straightforward domestic work we can usually price over the phone or by email. For larger homes, offices and commercial premises we prefer a short site visit so the quote reflects the real job.

How much notice do you need for a booking?

Regular cleans are usually scheduled within a week. One-off and deep cleans typically need a few days' notice. End of tenancy work is often more urgent, and we keep some flexibility in the diary for short-notice moves in Hull and the surrounding HU areas.

Is there a minimum booking length?

Our minimum visit is two hours. That is the shortest time in which a cleaner can do a genuinely worthwhile job in most homes once travel and set-up are taken into account.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

Not for domestic cleaning. Regular home cleans run on a rolling basis and you can change or cancel with reasonable notice. Commercial contracts are agreed in writing so both sides are clear on scope, frequency and price, but we keep the terms straightforward.

Coverage & availability

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Hull and cover the city plus the surrounding HU postcode areas, including Beverley, Hessle, Cottingham, Kirk Ella, Willerby, Anlaby, North Ferriby, Swanland, Brough, Elloughton, South Cave, Market Weighton, Hedon, Hornsea and Withernsea. We also take work in Barton-upon-Humber where scheduling allows.

Do you charge extra for travel outside Hull?

There is no travel charge for the main HU postcode areas. For the outer villages and coastal towns we may ask for a slightly longer minimum visit so the trip is workable, and we will always tell you before you book.

What days and times do you work?

Our standard hours are Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. Commercial cleaning is often carried out early morning or after hours so we are not in the way of your team, and holiday let changeovers are scheduled around check-out and check-in times.

Can you clean at weekends or bank holidays?

Saturdays are part of our normal week. Sundays and bank holidays can sometimes be arranged for end of tenancy work and holiday let turnarounds, subject to availability.

On the day

Do I need to be at home while you clean?

Not at all. Many of our regular clients are at work when we visit. You can let us in, leave a key with us, or use a key safe. Whatever you choose, keys are logged, labelled without your address and stored securely.

Will I get the same cleaner every visit?

Yes, wherever possible. Consistency is one of the main reasons people stay with us: your cleaner learns your home, your preferences and the little things that matter. If they are ill or on holiday we will let you know who is covering.

Do you bring your own products and equipment?

Yes. We arrive with professional products, microfibre cloths colour-coded by room and our own vacuum unless you would rather we used yours. If you prefer particular products for a delicate surface, or you have allergies, just tell us.

Should I tidy up before you arrive?

A quick clear of surfaces, floors and worktops helps enormously. Cleaners spend time moving clutter that could be spent cleaning. You do not need to do anything drastic, and if tidying is part of what you want from the visit, tell us and we will build the time in.

What if I have pets?

Pets are welcome and very common in our clients' homes. Let us know what to expect so the cleaner is prepared, and tell us if a pet needs to be kept in a particular room while doors are open.

Standards, staff & insurance

Are your cleaners DBS checked?

Yes. Every TrueNest cleaner is DBS checked before they enter a client's property, and we interview, reference and train each member of the team ourselves.

Are you insured?

We are fully insured, including public liability cover. Documentation can be supplied on request, which landlords, letting agents and commercial clients often need for their records.

What happens if something is damaged?

Tell us straight away. Accidents are rare but they do happen, and we would rather hear about it immediately than find out later. We will investigate honestly and put it right through our insurance where appropriate.

What if I am not happy with the clean?

Contact us within 24 hours and we will return to put right anything that was missed, at no extra cost. We would much rather fix a problem than lose a client over it.

Do you use eco-friendly cleaning products?

We use low-toxicity, biodegradable products as standard for most surfaces and reserve stronger chemistry for jobs that genuinely need it, such as heavy limescale or oven degreasing. If you want a fully fragrance-free or fully eco visit, we can arrange that.

Pricing & payment

How much does cleaning cost in Hull?

Regular domestic cleaning in the Hull area typically starts from around £18 per hour. Deep cleans and end of tenancy cleans are priced per property rather than hourly, because the work depends on the condition of the home rather than the clock. Every quote is fixed before we start.

Is the price per cleaner or per visit?

Hourly rates are per cleaner. Sending two cleaners for two hours costs the same as one cleaner for four, but you get your home back sooner — which is why many deep cleans are done as a team.

How do I pay?

Bank transfer is the simplest option and is what most clients use. Commercial clients are invoiced monthly on agreed terms.

Do prices go up over time?

We review rates occasionally in line with wages and running costs, and we give existing clients plenty of notice in writing before anything changes. We do not quietly increase prices mid-contract.

Do you offer discounts for regular cleaning?

Regular weekly and fortnightly clients pay a lower hourly rate than one-off visits, because the work is predictable and the home stays on top of. Longer commercial contracts are priced accordingly too.

Specific services

What is the difference between a regular clean and a deep clean?

A regular clean maintains a home that is already in good order: surfaces, floors, kitchen, bathrooms and dusting. A deep clean resets a property from top to bottom, including inside appliances, skirtings, door frames, tiles, grout, extractor fans and areas that are rarely touched.

Does your end of tenancy clean help me get my deposit back?

It is designed to. We work to the standard letting agents and inventory clerks in Hull and East Yorkshire expect, covering the oven, appliances, inside cupboards, windows internally, skirtings and all sanitary ware. We cannot guarantee a third party's decision, but we will return and re-clean anything an agent flags.

Can you handle Airbnb and holiday let changeovers?

Yes, including linen changes, restocking consumables, staging the property for photos and reporting any damage with photographs before the next guest arrives. We work to tight check-out and check-in windows.

Do you clean ovens as a standalone job?

We do. Oven cleaning can be booked on its own or added to a deep clean or end of tenancy clean, which is usually the better value option if the whole property needs attention.

Do you clean windows inside and out?

Yes. Interior glass, frames and sills are covered, and exterior work is carried out with pure water pole systems where the property allows safe access from the ground.

Can you clean after builders have finished?

Post construction and after builders cleaning is one of our specialisms. It is a staged process — debris removal, then fine dust removal, then a detailed finishing clean — and it needs different equipment from ordinary domestic work.

Do you offer bespoke cleaning packages?

Yes. If your requirements do not fit a standard service — a mix of frequencies, unusual hours, multiple properties or specific tasks only — tell us what you need and we will build a package around it.

Still not sure about something?

Ask us directly — there is no such thing as a daft question when you are letting someone into your home or business.

Ready for a cleaner home or workplace?

Tell us what you need and we'll send a fixed, no-obligation quote — usually the same working day.
